Modern Sonnet

PUPPET MASTER

I will never be your wooden puppet

And you will never be my master.

Loving you is a dream I must forget.

Your love, I can see, is a disaster.

You think that I am stupid, mute and dumb,

And abuse my vulnerability.

You threaten that to you I must succumb,

And you lack very much humility.

You sir, are not the only one to blame.

I have allowed you to treat me this way.

Therefore I am guilty and I feel shame.

My heart and mind I will no more betray.

I will no longer be silent or scared,

Love me as I am my heart I have shared.
